One of the most important aspects of planning a project is defining the tasks that need to be carried out to meet the project's objectives and its scope. Initially, you should concentrate on answering the question: WHAT. This question determines what tasks need to be accomplished and what structure the task are organized within. Don't worry about HOW the tasks will be carried out; that can be defined later. To help you concentrate on meeting the project's objectives, this task breakdown is usually conducted from the top-down; breaking the project into successively smaller packages of detail whilst not losing sight of what the project is meant to deliver. In this lesson, you will learn how to:
Create new tasks and milestones.
Manage a list of tasks and add new tasks within it.
Create subtasks and summary tasks as part of a project's outline.
Within the Trade Show project, project-level information will already have been defined. Ideally, base calendars and a resource pool should have already been created (although the definition of these elements may not be complete). Now, you can concentrate on the tasks to be accomplished. For this project, you want to approach this from the top-down.
