About Project Learning

When contemplating training and consultancy in project and programme management, you have three choices...

  • Volume PC training providers who concentrate on spreadsheets and word processors yet know little if anything about how to manage projects or programmes.

  • Large consultancy firms that provide staid and out-of-date project management services often as an adjunct to their general management and accountancy disciplines.

  • or Project Learning Limited.

Since 1994, Project Learning Limited has helped many organisations plan and manage their projects better.  This is how we have done it and what our approach is for the future...

Why choose Project Learning?

Subject matter experts

A brief Project Learning history

Formed in 1994, Project Learning Limited initially provided training services, in an associate manner, for a number of PM consultancies in the UK.  In 1996 expansion provided the opportunity to go it alone and work with clients directly offering courses tailored to their specific needs.  Sustained growth in our customer base and product offerings during 1997 and 1998 lead to us providing our own training facility as well as training at customer sites.  In 1999 we launched a schedule of personal training courses at our premises in northern England and around the UK.  In 2001 we expanded our training facility, together with the portfolio of courses that we deliver.  Since 2002, our Project Mentor user base has been steadily growing worldwide, especially since the release of version 2.0.  After our first 13 successful years, we're actively planning the next 13, focusing on past strengths and  consolidating our position as a training company of choice, especially within the rapidly growing enterprise sector.

We attained Microsoft Project Certified Professional status awarded during 1996.  We became a fully certified Microsoft Partner in 2004.

Our principal consultants Andy Jessop and Diane Gosling attained full membership to Association for Project Management (UK professional body) in 1997.

We have been active members of the Microsoft Project Partner programme from 1997 to present and regularly participate in Partner events in the UK and USA.  In addition we have delivered expert-level training courses on Microsoft Project Enterprise Project Management (EPM) on behalf of Microsoft Corporation in the UK.

In 2001 Andy and Diane gained accreditation in the Institute of IT Trainers assessment programme.

Since 2002, our Project Mentor and Project Companion products have been to be a recommended software resource within the Microsoft Project Inside Out book series.

During 2003 our Project Mentor CBT training tool has been adopted by many organisations within the UK and USA as a preferred way to learn Microsoft Project.  Version 2.0 was launched in summer 2004 to critical acclaim.

In 2004 the number of Project Companion users topped 20,000.  By mid 2005, this figure has reached over 30,000.  In early 2007, Project Companion users passed the 50,000 figure.

In 2005, Microsoft chose content from our Project Mentor CBT system to be the only partner-provided training content as part of their Project Management Toolkit.

In 2007, Project Learning left the UK after 13 successful years and relocated itself to Wellington, New Zealand.

In 2002 Andy became a Vice President and founding officer of the UK chapter of MPA.  Andy and Diane are now both active members of the New Zealand MPA chapter.
