Dear Andy,
Welcome to the fifth Project Learning
newsletter of 2005. Regular newsletter subscribers will
have noticed the lack of a May newsletter. The reason for
this is that we've spent the last month giving the
projectlearning.net website a complete makeover.
We
commissioned a website usability expert to give us his 'harsh
but fair' website analysis, and we've acted on his
recommendations. We've also added many completely new
pages, including a Microsoft Project Resource Centre, complete
with a knowledge base containing links to key Project-related
resources and a page that dispels commonly-held Microsoft
Project myths.
To
accompany this month's newsletter, we've added some help and
assistance for the growing numbers of Microsoft Project users
that have Project Mentor as their PC-based training tool.
The assistance provided helps users get the most from their
learning by creating their own personalised learning plan.
I hope
you like our new website. Please feel free to email me at
andyj@projectlearning.net if you have any good (or bad!)
comments. If you're interested in a 'harsh but fair'
analysis of your own website, take a look at

Sincerely,
Andy Jessop
CEO and Founder

New Project Learning website |
|
Every so often a website needs a complete overhaul, with all
pages updated with a new look, or new content. When you
have a website that contains well over 250 pages, an overhaul
becomes a project in itself. Like any good project, we set
a budget (time and money) aside and we also did a feasibility
study in the form of a detailed analysis of our existing site.
The good news was that "nothing was completely broken", but that
"every page needed to be changed." So, armed with
Microsoft FrontPage and plenty of coffee, we set about the
rewrite. We're pleased to say that the time budget was
exceeded by only a slight amount (due to setting up a new
internet service provider) and the cash flow stayed within
budget. The amount of coffee drunk did exceed initial
estimates however.
We hope that you like the look of our new site, and that you find
it more content-rich and easier to navigate than its
predecessor. To see the results of our efforts, just go

Help and Assistance |

One of the key features in our
Project Mentor system is the Personal Learning plan - or PLP.
Within a PLP, users get to rate their existing knowledge to help
them structure their learning.
A common question from Project
Mentor users is “How can we get the best from using our Personal
Learning Plans within Project Mentor?”
To answer this question, we’ve
complied key topics from within Project Mentor’s help system to
provide an understanding of the Personal Learning Plan (PLP)
system, together with how you can automate the logging on
process and gain the best from your Project Mentor usage.
If you
click on the link below, these tips and tricks explain about the
PLP and how you can get the most from using it.
