Season's Greetings
Thousands of companies around the world will currently be sending millions of greetings cards to celebrate the festive season.  At Project Learning, we've decided to not follow this practice.  Instead we're donating the money we would have normally spent on cards and postage to the following worthwhile causes:

The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF)   http://www.unicef.org/

The Multiple Sclerosis Society   http://www.mssociety.org.uk/

I hope you'll agree with us that the money we would have spent can be spent much more productively by helping those less fortunate than ourselves.

Technical Tips and Tricks

A large number of Microsoft Project users find that, whilst they can update a project with actual progress, determining schedule variances can often prove to be trickier.  Although visual baseline comparisons can be made against the schedule, these tend to be focused on specific groups of tasks.  Variances across an entire project’s schedule can sometimes be difficult to spot.

If you click on the link below, these tips and tricks illustrate a number of options and techniques that can be used to help find the tasks across the project’s complete schedule that aren't progressing according to plan.

Tutor-Led Training
Whilst the majority of our newsletter subscribers know that we produce critically-acclaimed computer-based training materials, not everyone is aware that our roots are in the more traditional tutor-led training approach.  Indeed, up until 2 years ago, all our training was delivered by real people - us.

If you are based in the UK or Europe and are thinking about attending a training course in best-practice Project Management or using Microsoft Project more effectively, why not follow these links to find out more about what we have to offer:

If you are based outside of the UK and are looking for training, let us know and we'll try and put you in touch with our training partners around the world.

Project Management Survey
For those of you who haven't already taken part in our project management survey, why not give us your opinions (and 5 minutes of your time).  Don't forget that all completed surveys will be entered into a draw to win a first prize of a Project Mentor Single User system (worth £195 / $300) or 1 of 5 second prizes of £20 / $20 Amazon vouchers.  Do ensure that you enter your email addresses at the end of the survey.

The survey will be active until January 14th 2005.  Results of the survey will be posted onto our web site later that month.  Everyone who completes the survey will be given access to the surveys dataset as an Excel file (not including personal details, as we never provide these to third parties!).

To take part in the survey, just click on the link below:
