Volume 2, No.5 |
| Dear Andy,
Welcome to the fifth edition of the Project Learning newsletter. A sincere thank you to all our newsletter subscribers that congratulated us on achieving our tenth anniversary. It's gratifying to receive such positive encouragement for what we do. To mark the beginning of our eleventh year, we're asking for some feedback from you. Please take the time to participate in our survey. We're looking forward to the survey's results and to sharing these with you. After a short break, tips and tricks are back. Judging by the feedback already received, these bite-size pieces of practical advice are becoming very popular. Do let us know if there are any specific tips and tricks you are interested in and we'll do our best to provide them for you. Lastly, due to customer demand, we've extended the anniversary offer on Project Mentor purchases. Just see below. Sincerely, Andy Jessop In this newsletter:
| Project Management Survey | |
|
As part of our
commitment to provide you with relevant information on project management, we
are launching a series of project management surveys.
Our first survey looks at how project management and its tools are used. The survey consists of eight questions and should take no more than five minutes to complete. All completed surveys will be entered into a draw to win a first prize of a Project Mentor Single User system (worth £195 / $300) or 1 of 5 second prizes of £20 / $20 Amazon vouchers. Don't forget to enter your email addresses at the end of the survey. Results of the survey will be posted onto our web site in January 2005. Everyone who completes the survey will be given access to the surveys dataset as an Excel file (not including personal details, as we never provide these to third parties!). To take part in the survey, just click on the link below:
| Technical Tips and Tricks | |
|
Tips and Tricks are back this month. Thank you to the
'eagle-eyed' readers who spotted last month's spelling mistakes. We're
sorry that we couldn't give prizes to the many readers who advised us of the
errors. You can, of course, take advantage of the extended offer on
Project Mentor as shown below.
How many of us have created complex projects containing level upon level of detail? It’s likely that all Microsoft Project users will have created a number of complex projects that can often be difficult to interpret and manage. When this is the case, a few simple techniques can be used to correctly view and interpret the (often vital) information that passes up through a project’s outline. If you click on the link below, these tips and tricks describe how outline information can be expanded or collapsed, together with an explanation of how information is summated at both summary levels and the overall project level.
| Project Mentor - Anniversary Offer | |

We've had requests from many people who downloaded Project Mentor evaluation kits to be given a little longer time to complete their evaluation. Due to these requests (and the recent Thanksgiving holiday in the US), the offer deadline for Project Mentor purchases has been extended to Sunday, December 5th.
